I was raised in a Dominican household in the Bronx. Dominican artwork/sculptures were all over our small apartment. One piece of art work that always stood out to me was a ceramic doll which is called “Munecas sin rostros”. These dolls represent the diversity the Dominican Republic has. As a Dominican-American I have to find my own way to represent my culture. All Of my figures in my painting are women of color. It represents the women I grew up with, the women I would see on a daily basis growing up.
